Private transfer from Barcelona-El Prat Airport to Begur
Door-to-door transfer from Barcelona-El Prat Airport to Begur with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Begur is known for
Begur sits on a hill in the Baix Empordà, crowned by the ruins of its castle and ringed by Iberian and 16th-century watchtowers you can still climb. The old town is full of colonial "indiano" houses built by locals who returned from Cuba. Below it, a string of separate coves each has its own character: Sa Riera and Sa Tuna are small fishing beaches, Aiguablava and Fornells draw swimmers to clear water, and the Parador overlooks Aiguablava bay. Summer brings families and second-home residents from Barcelona and France, while spring and autumn suit walkers on the coastal Camí de Ronda path. Nearby Pals, Palafrugell and Regencós are easy add-ons for anyone staying more than a couple of days.
The drive up the Costa Brava
The route runs almost entirely on motorway. You leave El Prat on the ring roads, join the AP-7 north past Girona, then branch onto the C-31 and C-66 toward Palafrugell. This stretch is flat and fast, crossing the inland plain of the Empordà with fields and the occasional medieval village in view. The character changes near the end: from Palafrugell the road narrows and starts to climb and twist through pine woods on the GI-653 into Begur. The final section into the old town is genuinely tight, with steep one-way streets and limited turning space. If your accommodation is down at one of the coves such as Sa Tuna or Aiguablava, expect an extra few minutes of single-lane hairpins after passing through the village.
Practical tips for the Begur transfer
Give the driver the exact cove or street, not just "Begur", because the coves are several kilometres apart by road and served by different turn-offs. Many old-town streets are pedestrianised or too narrow for a large vehicle, so agree a realistic drop-off point and be ready to walk the last stretch with luggage. In July and August the descents to Sa Riera and Aiguablava fill with parked cars and can be slow. If you land late, note that shops and restaurants in the coves close earlier out of season, so buy essentials in Begur town or Palafrugell first. For groups splitting between houses in different coves, it is worth confirming the order of stops before departure to avoid backtracking on the hairpin roads.
