Alcossebre sits on the Costa del Azahar in Castellón province, part of the municipality of Alcalà de Xivert. It draws mostly families and repeat summer residents rather than nightlife crowds, and stays quiet outside July and August. The coast is a run of distinct beaches: Playa del Cargador, Playa Romana, Playa del Moro and Las Fuentes, where freshwater springs surface near the sand next to the small marina, Puerto Las Fuentes. Immediately south rises the Serra d'Irta natural park, a stretch of undeveloped coast with hiking tracks, watchtowers like Torre Ebrí and rocky coves reachable on foot. The town itself is low-rise, with a compact seafront rather than tower blocks. Peñíscola's castle and the inland town of Alcalà de Xivert are both close by.

The route is almost entirely motorway. From Barcelona-El Prat you head south on the AP-7/A-7 corridor past Tarragona, Cambrils and the Ebro delta area, keeping the sea to your left most of the way. The terrain is flat coastal plain broken by low hills, with the road running inland of the shoreline rather than hugging it. After roughly two hours you leave the motorway near Alcalà de Xivert and take the CV-142 down to the coast, a short, gently descending stretch through farmland and orchards before reaching the seafront. Total road distance is around 205 kilometres. There are no mountain passes or tight hairpins; the only slow part is the final few kilometres of local roads and the town's own network of low-speed streets near the beaches.

Give your driver the specific beach or urbanisation, not just "Alcossebre". The resort spreads along several kilometres of coast — Las Fuentes, Playa Romana, El Cargador and the Serra d'Irta edge are all separate, and many holiday lets sit in named urbanisations set back from the seafront with their own access roads. Have the exact address or a map pin ready. If you're heading to a villa inside the natural park boundary, note that some tracks are unsurfaced and better confirmed in advance. This is a two-hour-plus drive, so a short break request is reasonable. In peak summer the local streets near the beaches get congested; arriving mid-morning or early afternoon usually avoids the worst. There is no train station in Alcossebre itself, so a door-to-door transfer removes a connection from Benicarló or Oropesa.
