Private transfer from Athens International Airport to Glyfada
Door-to-door transfer from Athens International Airport to Glyfada with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Glyfada is known for
Glyfada is the largest of the southern Athens coastal suburbs, strung along the Saronic Gulf on what locals call the Athens Riviera. Its centre is a dense shopping and café grid around Metaxa and Angelou Metaxa streets, busy year-round with residents rather than tourists. The Glyfada Golf Club, near the old airport site, is the main 18-hole course in the Athens area. Along the seafront you'll find organised beaches and a small marina, with the coast continuing south to Voula, Kavouri and Vouliagmeni. Summer brings beach clubs and late-night bars; the rest of the year it stays a well-to-do residential district. People come for long-term stays, golf, dining and easy access to the coast rather than for a single landmark.
The drive from the airport to the coast
Athens International Airport sits inland at Spata, on the eastern side of Attica, while Glyfada is on the western coast, so the transfer crosses the peninsula. The usual route takes the Attiki Odos motorway west, then turns south onto Vouliagmenis Avenue, the main artery down to the coastal suburbs. An alternative runs through Koropi and Vari when traffic on the motorway is heavy. Most of the drive is fast dual-carriageway; the terrain is low hills and suburban sprawl rather than mountains or sea views until the final stretch. Expect roughly 30 kilometres and about 35 minutes in light traffic. The last few kilometres slow down as you enter Glyfada's street grid, and reaching an address near the seafront means threading through one-way local roads.
Practical tips for this transfer
Vouliagmenis Avenue and the coastal Poseidonos Avenue both back up during weekday rush hours and on summer weekend evenings when Athenians head for the beach clubs, so allow extra time if you have a specific dinner or event booking. Glyfada's centre is largely one-way, and many streets have limited stopping, so give your driver the exact street and building number rather than just a beach or hotel district name. If your stay is near the seafront or the marina, the closest drop-off point may be a short walk from the door. For golfers, the club is inland near the old Hellinikon airport site, a different part of Glyfada from the beaches—confirm which end you need. Late-arriving flights still connect easily, as the motorway route runs at all hours.
