The route follows city roads and the R10 Singel toward the ring, then drops into the centre — roughly 7 kilometres and about 15 minutes when traffic is light. There's no motorway stretch or open countryside; it's an urban drive the whole way, past residential Deurne and Berchem before reaching the station area. The final approach into the old town involves narrow one-way streets and tram tracks around the Grote Markt, where large vehicles slow to a crawl. Expect longer times in weekday rush hour or when the R1 ring is congested near the Kennedy tunnel.

Because the airport is so close, a private car is often quicker than piecing together bus and tram connections, especially with luggage or after an evening flight. If your hotel is in the old centre, tell the driver the nearest square or parking garage rather than the exact street — much of the area around the Grote Markt and Handschoenmarkt is pedestrianised or access-restricted, and the low-emission zone (LEZ) covers the whole city inside the ring.
