Most visitors are beach holidaymakers and long-stay residents, many from Northern Europe and Russia, concentrated in Mahmutlar and Kestel to the east and Konaklı and Avsallar to the west. Summer is busy and hot; spring and autumn suit walkers heading to the Dim River valley and Dim Cave inland. The centre is compact and walkable, but the resort strip stretches roughly 20 km along the coast, so where you stay changes your drive time considerably.

The route runs east from Antalya Airport on the D400 coastal highway, the single main road linking the whole eastern Turkish Riviera. The first stretch past Aksu and Serik is flat and fast, mostly dual carriageway through farmland and greenhouse country. Beyond Manavgat the road narrows in places and passes the resort clusters of Side, Okurcalar and Avsallar, where traffic slows in high season. The sea appears on your right for much of the second half. There are no mountain passes; the terrain stays coastal and gentle. Expect around 90 minutes to central Alanya, longer if your hotel is east of the centre in Kestel or Mahmutlar, since the driver must pass through town on the same road.

Give the exact hotel name and district when booking, not just "Alanya". A hotel in Avsallar is reached before the town, while Mahmutlar or Kestel add 20–30 minutes because the driver crosses the whole centre. Many large resorts have a single beachside entrance off the D400 with a long service road, so share any complex name. The drive is long enough that a bottle of water and a bathroom stop matter, especially with children; the service areas around Manavgat are the practical midpoint. If you arrive late at night the D400 is quiet and quicker. For onward trips, the Dim River restaurants and Sapadere Canyon are inland detours worth arranging separately rather than squeezing into the airport run.
