Private transfer from Almería Airport to Roquetas de Mar
Door-to-door transfer from Almería Airport to Roquetas de Mar with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Roquetas de Mar is like
Roquetas de Mar splits into two parts: the working old town around the fishing harbour, and the long resort strip built along Playa Serena and Playa de la Romanilla. Families fill the hotels and apartments in July and August, while northern European residents stay through the winter for the mild climate. Landmarks worth knowing include the Castillo de Santa Ana by the port, the lighthouse and salt flats at the southern tip, the marina, and the Mario Park water park inland. Playa Serena Golf sits behind the beachfront. The Aquarium and the seafront promenade give day-trippers something to do beyond sunbathing. It's flatter and more spread out than the mountain villages of the Alpujarras, so knowing your specific hotel entrance matters.
The drive from the airport on the A-7
The airport sits east of Almería city at El Alquián, and Roquetas lies to the southwest, so the transfer runs almost entirely on the A-7 motorway. You skirt the edge of Almería, then continue past Aguadulce before taking the exit signed for Roquetas de Mar. Most of the way is fast dual carriageway, with the Sierra de Gádor rising inland and greenhouse plastic covering the plain around El Ejido further west. The journey is about 32 kilometres and usually takes around 35 minutes. The change of pace comes at the end: leaving the motorway you drop onto the resort's grid of avenues, where traffic slows and the route to a specific beachfront hotel or apartment block can involve several turns and roundabouts.
Practical tips for this route
Give the exact name and address of your accommodation, not just "Roquetas": the resort stretches for kilometres along Playa Serena and Aguadulce blends into it, so "the big hotel by the beach" isn't enough for a driver. Many apartment blocks have entrances on service roads set back from the seafront avenue, which is one-way in places. If you land late, note that the old town and the port area are livelier in the evening than the far southern end near the lighthouse. For golfers, Playa Serena Golf is a short hop once you're in town. In peak summer the final stretch into the resort is the slowest part, so allow a little extra if you have onward plans.
