Expect roughly two hours door to terminal in normal traffic. The final approach into Olbia passes commercial outskirts before the road bends towards the port causeway, so the last few minutes feel urban rather than scenic.

Ferry check-in at Isola Bianca usually closes 60 to 90 minutes before departure for vehicles and around 30 to 45 for foot passengers, so build the two-hour drive plus that margin into your plan. Confirm which terminal gate your operator uses when booking, as Moby, Tirrenia and GNV board from different points along the port. There are few useful stops between Sassari and Olbia, so use the restrooms and grab water in Sassari or at a service area rather than counting on the port. If you're arriving late at Alghero and sailing the same evening, an overnight ferry gives more buffer. In peak summer weekends, add extra time for congestion on the approach roads and at the check-in lanes.
