A short drive north brings you to Budoni's main town, the marina at Porto Ottiolu, and beaches at Sant'Anna and Ottiolu. Most visitors are here from June to September for the sea rather than for nightlife; outside those months the area is quiet, with many seasonal bars and beach services closed. The setting is low and coastal, not dramatic cliffs.

This is a long haul across the width of Sardinia, from the northwest coast near Alghero to the northeast coast at Budoni, usually around two and a half to three hours depending on summer traffic. The route runs inland through the Sassari area and picks up the SS131 and the fast SS729 corridor toward Olbia, then the SS125 heading south down the coast to Budoni. Most of the journey is on good dual-carriageway or well-maintained trunk road through farmland and low hills rather than winding mountain passes. The final stretch leaves the main road for local lanes toward Tanaunella and Agrustos, where signage for individual beaches and residences can be sparse. It's worth breaking the trip if you're travelling with children.

Because Budoni sits far closer to Olbia's Costa Smeralda airport than to Alghero, choose this Alghero route only if your flight lands here; otherwise the distance adds real driving time. Give your driver the exact villa or residence name and the nearest hamlet (Tanaunella, Agrustos or Budoni town), as many holiday complexes share access lanes off the SS125 and GPS pins are often imprecise. If you're arriving to self-cater, note that the larger supermarkets are in Budoni town rather than by the beach, so a brief stop on the way in is useful. In peak August the coastal approach and beach parking are congested from mid-morning; an early or evening arrival is smoother. Confirm any mid-journey stops in advance so timing is accounted for.
