Private transfer from Alghero-Fertilia Airport to Cannigione
Door-to-door transfer from Alghero-Fertilia Airport to Cannigione with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Cannigione is known for
Cannigione sits on the sheltered Gulf of Arzachena in northeast Sardinia, a former fishing village that grew into a low-key resort on the edge of the Costa Smeralda. Its marina is a practical base for boat trips to the La Maddalena archipelago and the beaches at Barca Bruciata, Mannena and Tanca Manna, all within a short drive north. Families come for the calm, shallow water along the gulf; sailors use the harbour through summer. Arzachena, five minutes inland, has the shops, the Coddu Vecchiu giants' tomb and the Nuraghe La Prisgiona. Porto Cervo and Baja Sardinia lie close by for those wanting the glossier side of the coast. It is busiest from June to September and very quiet out of season.
The drive across northern Sardinia
Cannigione is on the opposite coast from Alghero, so the transfer crosses the island from west to east, a journey of roughly two hours. The route leaves Fertilia and joins the main corridor toward Sassari, then follows the SS729 and SS199 dual-carriageway sections that link Sassari with Olbia. This inland stretch is fast and mostly flat to gently rolling, passing cork oak country and open farmland rather than coast. Near Olbia the road turns north toward Arzachena on the SS125, and the final approach to Cannigione runs down to the gulf on a narrower coastal road with some bends as it reaches the waterfront. Most of the drive is straightforward motorway-standard road; only the last few kilometres feel like a resort lane.
Planning this specific transfer
Because this is a cross-island trip, allow generous margin on your departure day: two hours of driving plus check-in means leaving Cannigione well ahead of your flight, especially in July and August when the Arzachena and Olbia roads carry heavy holiday traffic. If your real destination is a beach or villa north of the village toward Cala di Trana or the campsites near Mannena, give the exact name, as these are separated addresses rather than a single town centre. Many arrivals to this coast actually fly into Olbia, which is closer; choosing Alghero usually means a longer road leg, so a pre-booked driver who knows the SS729 route avoids guesswork. Confirm whether you need a stop in Arzachena for groceries, as Cannigione's shops are limited out of season.
