Baja Sardinia sits within the municipality of Arzachena on the northern edge of the Costa Smeralda. It's a compact resort built around a central square and a crescent of sheltered coves, with Cala Battistoni and the main Baja Sardinia beach a short walk from most hotels. Families come in July and August for the calm, shallow water and the Aquadream water park; boats leave nearby for the La Maddalena archipelago. Golfers head to the Pevero Golf Club toward Porto Cervo. After dark the crowd shifts to Phi Beach at Forte Cappellini for sunset sets. Neighbouring Cannigione and Baja's own marina handle smaller craft, while Porto Cervo's glossier scene is a ten-minute drive east.

Baja Sardinia is on the opposite corner of the island from Alghero, so this is a genuine cross-Sardinia run of roughly 240 km. From Fertilia the route heads inland on the SS291 toward Sassari, then joins the four-lane SS729/SS199 corridor that runs east toward Olbia — this dual carriageway covers most of the distance at a steady pace through open, rolling inland country rather than coast. Near Olbia the road turns north for Arzachena on the SS125, and the last stretch to Baja Sardinia via the local roads is slower, winding past the granite hills and umbrella pines typical of the Gallura. Total driving time is usually around two and three-quarter hours, longer on peak summer weekends.

Because it's a long inland drive, agree a pickup time that lets you settle in before dinner rather than arriving late; many Baja Sardinia hotels are up short private lanes off the resort's ring road, so give the exact hotel name and not just "Baja Sardinia". If you're actually staying in Porto Cervo, Cannigione or Poltu Quatu, say so — the final approach differs. In July and August the last kilometres and the resort centre get congested, so build in extra time for evening arrivals. Consider Olbia airport for future trips, as it's far closer, but if you've flown into Alghero a private car avoids two changes on the limited public transport. Bring water for the drive; there are service stops on the Sassari–Olbia road but few once you turn off.
